      VCR Bill

Since the introduction of the "latest" VCR bill on 1st October 2007, sales of AIRGUNS (including replicas) AND MAJOR COMPONENTS (barrels, cylinders etc.) by DEALERS is restricted to a face-to-face transaction.   Please ensure you are familiar with the changes brought about due to the VCR act, which may be viewed on the BASC website.   BASC and ACPO have produced a guide to the VCR act in PDF format, which avoids legalese and is very understandable. See HERE.   AirGunForum members must ensure their transactions conform with current legislation before posting.   An inter-dealer network to facilitate the continuation of mail order business is being established by Portland Jon. Details are HERE or direct to his website HERE.

      Editing your posts

The forum's EDIT function has been changed. After making your post, you will have 30 minutes to review and edit it. After that, only Admin will be able to make edits.   Should a post NEED to be edited afterwards, email to admin@airgunforum.net the change details, the URL of the thread it applies to and if appropriate, the reason for the change. Don't forget to identify yourself and do use your registered email address to make contact. All this is necessary, as admin must be able to identify who you are and that it is your post that you wish to edit.   Admin. will make the edit if it appears necessary. Note, if you want to change something that could easily be achieved by adding a further post to the thread, you will be expected to do it.   Forum staff generally view new posts added to threads since their last visit. If a "for sale" item has been sold or a wanted item has been obtained, just add a post to the thread and it will usually be noted and the thread title will be edited appropriately. This saves members' time wading through posts that are effectively "dead".   DaveL

      Upgrade   01/16/2018

Well it took me longer than expected and it was a bumpy road, but the forum is now upgraded to the latest version. The previous skin will no longer work with this new version, but I will check to see if there is a similar one for this version. Enjoy and if you encounter any problem just report it.

Guest Airgunforum.

First of all, a warm welcome to AirGunForum.

Unfortunately, in the past, registrations were accepted with anonymous email addresses and we found that almost all problems with malicious postings came from members having anonymous email addresses. We decided to take positive action to stop these people spoiling the genuine members' enjoyment of AirGunForum.

We are no longer permitting automatic registrations. All new membership applications will be examined by the administrators before full access to the forum is granted.

Registrations from those using free anonymous email services such as Hotmail or Yahoo will generally no longer be accepted. To register you will require a valid normal email address such as that supplied by your ISP.
If, however, you have only an anonymous email address, all is not lost; send an email to Admin. who will assist you.

These actions have not been taken lightly. Enforcement will, unfortunately, involve a lot more work on behalf of the volunteer board staff, but we are convinced it is the only way forward.

Presently, there are no plans to apply the anonymous email service restriction to existing members, but that is subject to constant review.

Furthermore, we now ask that a location be entered. This is only to ensure as far as possible that comment and exchange of information is as appropriate as possible to the varied laws applicable across the world. Also, due to changes in UK law, a date of birth is also requested, but can only be seen by the member and administration.

Anyone attempting to register with an anonymous email address or invalid location will not be accepted and their registration application will be deleted.

I hope you all support our determination to keep AirGunForum a friendly, troll-free and interesting place to visit.

Hi guys. The major UK BBSs have also adopted this policy because of events suffered by all.

There are no plans to eject already registered anonymous email users at present. If this ever comes to pass, the reasons for it, together with fair warning will be posted on here.

Hi Guys. I'm new to your forum but use several others witch we have had loads of probs with trolls, detrimental posts and that sort of thing. I am 100% behind your plan and hope that the other boards follow suit.

We have had loads of probs with public access boards like Potshots and Live On Air.

Some of the posts are giving massive amounts of ammunition too those who would seek to ban our sport.

Hopefully thay too will sonn adopt a registration policy.

Sibear.

Having just started up the Airgun Shooter BBS I will be keeping a careful eye on all your points about anonymous emails, especially during the silly seasons (holidays) when most of the trouble seems to start.

At the moment my BBS is not visible to the main search engines so unless they know the URL I feel safe. (probably not for long)unsure.gif

Hello everyone,

Just joined the forum, I don't know much about todays airguns, if I tell you my present guns are a BSA Scorpion & a Sharp Innova, you'll see what I mean! ( I am however in the throws of buying a new one for vermin control and target shooting in my garden.

Like the rules I have seen and find the posts interesting and helpful.

There is no reason for you to be unable to start a topic in anything airgun, but please read your confirmation email and enter a location, otherwise you will be deleted.

Not sure where you got your info, but MSN.Com is not a freesite. You pay to have an msn.com mail address

Hello, I've, (being a bit slow!) just discoveredBBS information and would hate to be banned by the forum because I've got to use Hotmail because I share with my wife whose computer it is, so if you require any more info. about me, just ask. I have nothing to hide! Thankyou and I wish you a happy new year.Mick.

Hello to all! As a Newbie on this fine site i feel i need to ask this question!

Although i have joined with my assigned email address from my isp (Which i have'nt used for 6 years now)

Can i now revert and change my contact email address to my normal one?

which is my user name @gmail.com?

Would the BBS on this site allow this? And More to the Point Would the Admins allow this?

Thanks Nev..

I run an IT based forum and know where you are coming from. I found that using the manual registration checking process for a few weeks got rid of the anon sign-ups (for a while). I was then able to switch back to automatic for while, it was about 6 weeks before the anon sign-ups started again. Manual reg gets rid of the bots that just sign up and post spam.

A word of caution though, more and more people are using the @gmail.com or @googlemail as their primary accounts, in fact many IT magazines are recommending it, by banning these addresses you may be losing out on worthy new members. I also see that @orange.net is on the list, Orange now provide broadband access in the UK so the @orange.net may be a primary account for people.

Hello All! I'm Mel, a 24 years old chemistry student from Germany. Have been shooting 10m offhand air rifle since I was 11. Currently, I just have access to a 7 metres "shooting range" that is frequently used with a Slavia 631. Other than that, I'm shooting catapults a lot - check out my webpage www.melchiormenzel.de in case you're interested.

Hi folks, I've just joined up and it looks like a great site you have, thanks for allowing me in.

I have just taken up shooting again after a long lay off, I started a field target club in 1982 with a friend. Test Valley Airgun Club in hampshire. I think an off shoot of it is still running in Romsey/ Southampton area. Hasn't everything changed since those early days..bit of a shock. well i'm off for a look round, see what i can learn. Mike

Hello, I live in Mexico city and due to our strict gun laws a lot of people is turning to airguns. I had a lot of fun with firearms (I´m a Veterinarian and lived for a long time in Rural Mexico), but moved to a laboratory job in Mexico city, so I switched to airguns again (I started with them), there is no regulation for airguns in Mexico, you can shoot what ever you want as long as you dont bother other people.

So far I have 3 Mendozas RM600, 2 sheridans (Blue streaks) a benjamín, one Diana 350, Diana 45 and a fwb 127.

Once in a while you´ll have to excuse my English, I studied in a British Institute in Mexico but lived in the US for a while (San Rafael Ca, Beeman store was a common place to find me), however my computer´s dictionary is in spanish and "corrects" my spelling

Well to much talk, lets enjoy the forum
