Airgun pellet combo

Recommended Posts

What airgun and pellet combination do you use for FT or HFT, please could you let me know?

I want to do an article in the BASC mag about FT / HFT aimed at getting more people to take it up, I want to look at low, mid and high range prices of airguns, but also give some guidance on what people shoot with.

Thanks

David

FT:

Mark 1 EV2 and RN10 Pro-Target, with Falcon T35 fixed mag scope. Both rifles shoot best groups with Webley Mosquitos; the EV2 definitely so. The Pro-Target is less fussy but does prefer loose fit to tight fit so any oversize brands need to be sized first.

HFT:

AA S400 with the export length cylinder, this rifle has a (don't laugh) Rhino 3.5-10x40 IR scope with 30mm tube. The scope was one of a number that were sold off cheaply as there were some faulty ones in the batch. This one is fine and is the best scope for £25 I've ever had. Reparallaxed it focuses from 14 yards to 55 yards and has the usual mildots. This rifle also shoots Webley Mosquitos very well.

FT

AA Pro Target

BSA 10-40x60 Platinum

Webley Mosquitos

HFT

Now don't laugh - am fettling a Stealth with some custom bits, Hawke Airmax SR6 3-12x44, so far the gun seems to like JSBs.

( I am also fettling another one with custom barrel, hammer and spring, HPA tank and regulator and a bit of custom woodwork just to see it it is possible to make one accurate enough as a back up FT gun that might be easier to clean and dry after a soaking in the rain. I love a challenge!)

Does anybody want to buy my Dommi???? it would seem an s200 is more popular!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only problem with an S200 is that you have got to spend to much dosh getting it right for FT ? a new stock . a reg . a longer air cylinder . a trigger job . takes the rifle over the top of what it is worth ??? HOLLY

Looks like via the poll it was more HFT biased, I don't know anyone that shoots a AA200 in a GP, Plus where is the walthers which are very popular on the GP circuit, Can't really say this is a fair cross section of FT kit to be honest.

Tend to agree with ChisJ.... thinking of our region (SEFTA) you have EV2s, Pro Targets, Styer. Anschutz & Dominators that are predominant (no Pun intended!)........... with JSBs, AA Field and Mosquitos being used as ammo.... think this would be a good representation of FT generally (with the odd exception)

(of course you can only make a list with the info available)

Hello David, im fairly new to the sport but here are my set ups.

FT, Daystate Mk3 FTR (2004) new Nikko Sterling Diamond 10-50x60 JSB 4.53 the gun don't like AA or anything else ive tried and it also don't like 4.53's Ive got a new Grand Prix on order :inlove:

HFT, which i only play at  AA TX200 HC in a GINB stock, Hawke Airmax SR6 and JSB 4.53 (just because i have loads but the gun doesn't seem fussy)
