2 year stored pcp is it ok?

Recommended Posts

Just purchased a air arms s200, it has been stored around 2 years with some air in the cylinder. Will this be ok? What should I do when receiving it to give it its new loving home.

I'd advise having it serviced. the seals on the reservoir are rubber and when rubber is held under constant pressure it tends to distort. Not only that but the reservoir itself should be inspected periodically. A good service by a competent gunsmith pays dividends and for what it costs is well worth it.

To be honest I've no idea. I've just bought my first air rifle in over 20 years so am a little out of touch with the prices - when I was last air rifle shooting the HW77 was the new kid on the block!

Have a look in the yellow pages for a local gun shop and give them a call. Don't tell them you've got an Air Arms S200, just tell them that you've got an S200. If they ask you who that is made by then move on to the next shop.

I have several PCP's that I continually keep air in; but whem storing I tend to drop the internal pressure to a bit under 1000 psi. A few of them are several years old.. and so far, no issues. BTW- an S200 is one of them. RB
