JSB Heavies.....

Recommended Posts

So I finally got round to setting them up properly with my rifle on Sunday.

Bearing in mind that I've been at the other end of the spectrum with JSB Expresses for about 8 months I was pleasantly surprised.

Blowing a hooley at Springfield Sunday so ideal for trying them though it was so cold I could hardly keep still.

Did about three-quarters of the course before a couple of hail flurries stopped play.

My thoughts are that they seem to be a lot more consistent at range than either 8.4's or 7.9's.

I thought that getting the yardage perfect would be a factor, it's not.

Personally I like them so I'm going to give them a whirl Sunday at Iceni and see if they can tame the usual twitchy wind there.

It's OK, the snow will show you what the wind pixies are doing:awink:

Just wish that I could get on with the new scope - so, so tempted to drop back to the old gun & setup (but that would mean re-scoping that before the weekend - no thanks!)

Well, current forecast is minus something with a 15mph wind and I know I would struggle with lightweights, so I'm willing to try anything to tame the Iceni course....

So, first real test today for the heavies, not as windy as last week at Springfield but as always the switchy Iceni windy was not to be sniffed at. Had a good shoot, all misses accounted for except for the long one into the sun that most people missed. I suspect there was some weird stuff going on as I think I hit at 6 o clock along with a gazillon others.

The QYS 9.56 are good if you have a barrel that likes them.

Yes yet to try them and look like a good compromise between mediums and heavies.

Got a sleeve of heavies turn up and I must say these ones manufactured in 2018 look absolutely pristine, I just hope they perform as good if not better than the trial tin which was 2017 vintage.
