She has been having trouble with her groupings in L.S.R 20 yard comp lately and I was having hard time convincing her it was 'her' and NOT the rifle/pellets (touchy area this) . I decided she need a 'visual' explanation on what was happening so I attached a laser sight to her rifle and got her to hold it in her 'shooting position' on target!!
It was like the dance of the fireflies

with that litt'l red spot moving up,down.left.up round etc and she finally realised that a little movement of 5-10mm at firing point can translate to 3-4 inches at target!!
She has now slowed down her breathing , been taking her time between shots (even if others are waiting to go downrange) and been extending her 'follow through' time after each shot.
Hopefully now she'll be doing much better and although it's not very encouraging to go back to basics- sometimes it helps to discover where someone is going wrong.

Myself and the missus shoot L.S.R 20yard comp at our local club and the new season is just about to start.
She has an unusual shooting stance in that she shoots right handed but uses left eye through scope!
It seems to work for her or at least it did until she started using rimfire instead of her AA S200.
The only thing(apart from the rifle) she has changed is going from using a
x12 mag scope to a
x9 mag scope.
Could this be the varible that is causing her now inacurrate shooting?
I have used her rifle and ammo (either SK pistol match or Standard plus) and achieve 47+/50 so I'm pretty sure the rifle/scope is on target(CZ BRNO).
Could it just be a case of getting used to a new setup?Any suggestions would be most welcome

I am on the verge of purchasing an FWB 601. It is in quite condition and has recently undergone a service. It is without a case and has no extras. Can anybody please give a guideline as to what my maximum offer should be.
Many thanks,

Hello
I'm a bit out of touch these days with modern technology so some advice would be appreciated.
I have been offered a Steyr pistol.
I don't know the model number, but it is a modern air pistol using a compressed air chamber under the barrel.
It is a multi shot design, rather than a single shot chamber.
I've been offered this pistol for £350
Is that a good price ?
The problem is that it's right handed and I'm left handed.
Are L/H grips going to be hideously expensive ?
Any advice appreciated.

I would like to buy a good FW 65 or FW 80 Match target pistol with anotomical grips.
I have cash waiting for good clean examples.
Also, I have a new Tau 7 Match pistol available for swap or part exchange if preferred. This target match pistol is brand new and unused in the original fitted case complete with all original accessories.

Many years ago I started an air weapons section of the Exmouth Smallbore Rifle Club, and later formed the Exmouth Air Pistol and Rifle Club.
To start with we were fairly nomadic, and shot in a variety of places (including my garage and a skittle alley) until we were fortunate enough to find a permanent home in a church hall just outside Sandy Bay in Exmouth where we shot every Monday night for many years. I never missed a club night until my work took me away from Exmouth.
In those days we shot against other "local" clubs such as Plymouth and Tiverton as well as shooting in the NSRA and NARPA postal leagues.
We also travelled to RAF Cosworth near Wolverhampton to shoot in the NARPA finals each year until the demise of this great organisation, as well as the NSRA finals that were held in the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff each year, and as a new club we had a fair share of success amongst our members individually and as a team.
Over 30 years later I now live "up north"and would like to start target air pistol shooting again - possibly by starting another new club, and maybe building a range in my own warehouse.
I would like to hear from any old (or current members) of the Exmouth Air Pistol and Rifle Club that may remember me, or anyone in the Rossendale area that may be interested in starting a new target air weapons club.

I do 20 yard competitions at our club and I have always used high mounts on my S400 with a 3-9x40 . I was recently advised to try lowering the scope down closer to the barrel as it makes zeroing easier.
Will lowering the scope make for a more comfortable/natural target shooting position?
This is the current high mounting:-

Hi,
As someone who just took up 10 m rifle shooting again, and added 10 m air pistol to that, I miss a good way to keep track of my shooting and analyze my results. How do you, both beginners and pros, keep a log of your shooting? I imagine you could settle anywhere from general remarks to documenting every shot in detail. What would you say is the right balance? Are there different needs for rifle and pistol shooting? And what parts of your log do you find most relevant and helpful? Lots of questions, I hope they may be interesting.
Best regards,
Swedrik

I am in the process of getting a new airpistol for 10m target shooting and the choices are
1. Airarms alfapro PCP Pistol around 430euro
2. Secondhand Walther LP200 (300psi) in excellent brand new condition 490euro
I have been shooting a Drulov condor 5shot CO2 pistol but I am now only getting 40shots per CO2 cartridge and is making a sound like a rasberry to put it politely and I need to invest.
Can someone help me with the choice.
Thanks,
Tony

Hi All,
I'm based just between Sheffield and Barnsley and was wondering if there were any target shooting clubs in the area and when they meet.
I've just bought a S200 to deal with a Rat problem we had. I've finished them off and want to move on to target shooting to improve my skills (can hit a rat at 7-8 meters but don't always get a clean kill).
I would really appriciate any information anyone has on the subject.
Thanks

Hi,
After the perfection of the very old Feinwerkbau Model 65 I reviewed the other week I have now had time to add what is probably the current state of the art in 10m air pistol designs.
The new Steyr LP50E.
This could be up there in the best air pistol ever made category.
Please find it under Airguns on my website here :-

I have shot 22 and 6mm center fire benchrest rifles for for over 20 years and discovered many years ago a technique (that worked for me) of putting as little pressure on the rifle as possible during firing and then returning the rifle to as close as possible to the same position on the tripod for each subsequent shot. I would do this by aiming the rifle only with my left hand using the rabbit eared rear bag and placing as little pressure on the rifle as possible with my right hand. Just enought to squeeze the trigger with my right thumb just resting on the top of the stock. I would positition the butt of the stock about 1/2 in. from by right shoulder and allow the recoil to push the rifle back against my shoulder. I would then push the rifle back forward until it hit the stop on the front of the tripod and would then pull the rifle back about 1/4 in.
Since recoil was no problem, I got very good results using this technique, but when I attempted to use it with a spring piston air rifle my results were less than ideal.
Just on a whim I decided to try holding the rifle very firmly with my right hand and even tried to hold the aim point after pulling the trigger as I was not sure if the pellet had left the rifle before the vibrations and "recoil" was felt. To my surprise, my groups got considerably smaller.
To any experts out there, what is the proper method of holding and firing a spring piston air rifle from the benchrest?

I have been offered to have a muzzle weight machined for me but I was wondering if there's a standard weight or is it worked out by a balance/piviot point / centre of gravity of the particular rifle etc.

Hi,
I have a Walther LP201 airpistol. This air gun already has a few years of use (nearly 10 years). Since the air cylinders have already a few years, I want to buy a new set of cylinders but i'm having some trouble in getting them.
Do you know if I can use the air cylinder from the Walther LP300XT Ultra in my LP201?
Best regards
Rui

Hey all,
I used to shoot air pistol at County level about 15 years ago and I'm looking to get back into it again, but unfortunately the club I used to shoot for is long since gone.
The only club locally that I can find is primarily firearm orientated so not really ideal.
Are there any 10metre target air pistol clubs in the North East? Specifically within driving distance of South Shields?
Your help would be very much appreciated.
