      VCR Bill

Since the introduction of the "latest" VCR bill on 1st October 2007, sales of AIRGUNS (including replicas) AND MAJOR COMPONENTS (barrels, cylinders etc.) by DEALERS is restricted to a face-to-face transaction.   Please ensure you are familiar with the changes brought about due to the VCR act, which may be viewed on the BASC website.   BASC and ACPO have produced a guide to the VCR act in PDF format, which avoids legalese and is very understandable. See HERE.   AirGunForum members must ensure their transactions conform with current legislation before posting.   An inter-dealer network to facilitate the continuation of mail order business is being established by Portland Jon. Details are HERE or direct to his website HERE.

      Editing your posts

The forum's EDIT function has been changed. After making your post, you will have 30 minutes to review and edit it. After that, only Admin will be able to make edits.   Should a post NEED to be edited afterwards, email to admin@airgunforum.net the change details, the URL of the thread it applies to and if appropriate, the reason for the change. Don't forget to identify yourself and do use your registered email address to make contact. All this is necessary, as admin must be able to identify who you are and that it is your post that you wish to edit.   Admin. will make the edit if it appears necessary. Note, if you want to change something that could easily be achieved by adding a further post to the thread, you will be expected to do it.   Forum staff generally view new posts added to threads since their last visit. If a "for sale" item has been sold or a wanted item has been obtained, just add a post to the thread and it will usually be noted and the thread title will be edited appropriately. This saves members' time wading through posts that are effectively "dead".   DaveL

  8. Back in 1900 and frozen to death . i qualified for my first showdown . ( 18 times in all ) to do this you had to be in the top 6 i think it was at a GP . i learned that a GP was being held at a ground near luton off the old A5 Broomhills . the course was set by dave welham . it was a public shooting ground . so for two weeks before hand i drove down there to get the hang of the wind there . on various parts of the course . anyway , i did qualify . much to my and my shooting mates surprise . the showdown that year was held near manchester . i had to borrow a car to get there . my first round was with funny enough dave welham . he was a top name then .he beat me by two targets . so i went into the plate . i was not then a barrel cleaner . did not really know much about it . half way around the second course . the barrel went off and i hardly hit the plate after that . anyway i got my badge and away home i went . loved it . great atmosphere . one mistake and your out / yep good memory /?? HOLLY PS the next week at the club . i stapled a notice to one of the chairs in the club " SHOWDOWN QUALIFIERS CHAIR ONLY " when they saw it , the chucked the chair and me out the door .
  9. The SteyWhei

If it does not snow tomorrow i will have a go at setting up the wifes steyr . ??? HOLLY
  10. I would have wiped the floor with Monty Cliffy . next stop world domination ??? HOLLY PS now i am down in B grade , i have met some very nice people . oh by the way groucher is back in A grade . oh the shame of it .

The field target community were deprived of witnessing Holly v Monty (Thriller in Manila or Rumble in the jungle) . I guess we will have to wait till next year, but i'm sure it will be worth it just like Joshua v Fury .
  12. The Euros ?

Have contacted the BFTA Comp Sec to ask if they can include a Open Class in the Euros . .my view is it is a good shoot but getting slaughtered on all those standers is not a lot of fun . if they don't give a money prize for it , just a first prize . it won't cost anything much . . run those who want to do it in the afternoon of the first day . where it is never full . more bums on more seats , has to be good ??? HOLLY
  13. well no shoot tomorrow . got the cylinder back from mick tromans after fitting a quick fill . so i have put the march on top of it and taken the WL barrel off to be polished and clear laquered . was gonna carbon fibre wrap it . but not enough clearance to get it into the breech area . so it looks like laquer . the barrel was a blank so not finished .??? HOLLY
  14. sensible . only shame is it cannot be re-done at a later date . and i was sure to clear the course as well ??? HOLLY
  15. Scopes , Too Heavy ?

    No lopping allowed Rob
  16. Scopes , Too Heavy ?

You don't need to touch the action, just the chassis... you can bend any gun, Steyr dual slot is quite easily distorted by tightening up the bolts unevenly... but the stuff up front does naff all. If you were brave you'd just lop it off.
  17. Cancelled. Snow started falling today making the approach and parking dubious for future use over the next 24 hours.
  18. Been thinking , maybe two drops for 50 pellets was too much . will give it try later with one drop . mind you next up lube wise is FP 10 . will just do one drop of that on 50 pellets . can i get the groups down to a quarter of an inch on a good day ? probably not . but gotta try ??? HOLLY PS best thing about FP 10 is it does not allow anything to stick in the barrel or on your fingers .
  19. Last week
  20. Well looks like it goes on snow or not . . i just hope it does not rain . had enough cold and rain to last me a life time . ??? HOLLY
  21. OK to make up for yesterdays cock up , of forgetting the air cylinder . i went today down the club in the morning for three hours . the aim was to shoot in the LW Match barrel ( phil say's he has roughly half a dozen of em that he got from Pax ) any way wanted to try lube on the AAs . started off dry , shot a around 80 pellets . grouping was average . discounting flyiers caused by wind changing/speeding up slowing down . half inch 5 shot groups were the norm . wind was around 5 mph . checked rifle over the chrono and a bit high at 790 . ( warmer ) turned it down to my fave . 777 fps .( just like the sound of it ) changed direction so as the wind came from the right . quite a steady 5 mph . put 50 pellets in to an empty tin , along with two drops of napier pellet lube .. swirled em about for a couple of mins . and started shooting . all was well for around 15 shots and then they started to string up and down slightly . can't be having that . so stopped that and went back to dry pellets . strangely enough the consistency of the groups was better . to see if it would last . i fired 40 pellets off the bench at 52 yards onto a painted metal target .37 went into a half inch .the other three ( dodgy trigger technique ) took it to an inch . what i think was learned here is that the barrel was cleaned a bit by the 15 shots with lube . and is now shot in enough to shoot at it's best clean . barrel cleaned spotless tonight . cylinder back shortly . march goes on top and then off to kick ass . ( as long as it is not raining ) only one thing to say . Let Her Ripppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp ??? HOLLY
  22. Only the hair piece i borrowed off of you Dave ??? HOLLY PS by the way . simon has a pair of tights now but he is shy of wearing it . so he puts it below his waterproofs . hah hah . it is catching on at last .
  23. Well you already got tights and hairpiece
  24. new sytron 45x45

  25. No No No . IT DOES NOT COME OUT IN THE RAIN . i will use the wifes in the wet weather . getting new wood work for it next week . the blue spider man paint scheme was a little Pooofee for me . alright for groucher i suppose . and if anybody laughs , i will hit em with my hand bag ??? HOLLY
  26. Scopes , Too Heavy ?

Not sure i would do it on the Steyr . i don't think there is enough meat at the breech end .on the walther front . i have seen dopper bend his barrel back level . just not enough meat at the breech end . this was a floated ex team walther he had just bought in wales ??? HOLLY
  27. So You Want A Gary Cane Bull Pup ?

What’s happened to that tuff ex special forces chap that used to shoot in all weather. Remember you used to say the rain is an FT shooters best friend lol
  28. new sytron 45x45

Holly i heard it was a manic lorry driver delivering tools
  29. Scopes , Too Heavy ?

Lots are fitting Ti tube. These are only lighter that steel. For the ones we've seen that are for Walthers they're 200g heavier than tubes of the roughly the same capacity (judging from the outside). I lost 300g by doing as per Holly says, cutting off the parts of the stock my hand never touches and the support which doesn't support anything.
