Well, we had little informal competition at Springfield yesterday for all the GP dodgers lodged in Essex. Only seven of us but a whole pound each into the pot keened the senses.

We had a quick start as we were worried that Holly might smell a few quid and head North plus the already stiff wind was starting to swing around making life very tricky.

So I shot with Kilty and Ronnie, the former with his 9003 and Ronnie with his FWB800 FT in stock guise i.e. no Jon fettling with the added handicap of a x10 scope and very sketchy info. about 45-55yds.

Now, from the off my shooting was terrible, couldn't get really settled and I was missing left right and centre, Kilty was doing a bit better, but young Ronnie literally couldn't miss. Even on the 55yd targets which were a total blur and he was guessing, he still got them, the long reducers, bam, down, it didn't matter.

So in talking to Ronnie it turns out that his 800 is a totally stock rifle straight from the manufacturer, so judging by how well it/he shot I would have to say that if that's how they're churning them out now and they're all the same, then it's a great little rifle.

Luckily we managed to persuade Ronnie that he really wouldn't like all that bean bag ass action with the feather brigade so at least we're safe for the time being.

But what a great shot and what a great little rifle...

Two in every three is total utter garbage learning nothing from 16 years ago with P70FT.

Its what I keep saying, learn the ropes its not rocket science. 40 yards too easy only top of kill to land on half way mark and anyone should be able to guess within 2 yards visually. Its after 42 1/2 yards things take more care being 3/8" above kill, 1/2 dot for 45, 1st dot for 50 and 1 1/3 dots for 55 easy.

I do it weekly to p em off but go two stages further taken standing and no bracketing plus any wind drift allowance even out to 85 yards ask Neil T at Far Coley picking a target out at an angle in proper wind (3-5" movement) one shot one kill couldn't believe his eyes.

Well there you go.

To be honest after the first double dink I stopped even thinking about the score, though in my defence I had spent most of Saturday bent over trying to sort out my sister in law's damn decking which I did for her 15 years ago and because she couldn't be assed to look after it most of it had rotted so my legs and back were not in the best condition for sitting comfortably, I'm a mouse pushing office wallah remember....

Still,  I did finish the course,  get all my kneelers and only drop one stander but the sitters were truly shocking, so something else to sort out this week.

'When he was on form?'

What blasphemy is this, why everyone knows that our hero is just biding his time, lulling everyone into a false sense of security before lunging from his lair for final FT glory...
Why, even Powder Puff Hague is quaking in his boots at the thought.....

We all know a certain person that travelled a lot further than that plus additional expenses of the ferry he caught and ended up sampling a burger after 3 1/2 lanes.

No, not made by Jon. When I made enquiries about a Hi-Master for a mate you understand *cough*, they said that they were in the process of getting a special wheel designed which would be supplied with the scope. 'But it can't be as good as a JH wheel' I said, 'better' they said, which is a pretty tall order in anyone's book.

Yep, if I did get a March, I'd still want a JH wheel to finish it off, wouldn't be cricket otherwise...
