Exactly what Nikki's Grandad was told by a German tank commander at Dunkirk when his Bren ran out of ammo and he surrendered...

Nikki's Grandad was captured on the other side of the town sitting in the bottom of a dyke with his bren, the Germans kept coming along the top of the dyke so he kept shooting them until he ran out of ammo. Luckily a single tank came along instead of whoever was sending the troops and he took the surrender, by that time he'd broken the bren up and lobbed it in the canal so was unarmed.

He spent the war in Poland down a coal mine and came back to blighty like a body builder but minus a few fingers from the pit props.

He spent a week somewhere being interrogated about why he'd 'worked' for the Nazis and he was most put out as any heroes that either slacked or tried to escape were simply killed with a spade, no messing.

One of these days you'll be digging a hole and get a metallic clang which will look like the usual water pipe but isn't, if you then hear a ticking then run....
