      VCR Bill

Since the introduction of the "latest" VCR bill on 1st October 2007, sales of AIRGUNS (including replicas) AND MAJOR COMPONENTS (barrels, cylinders etc.) by DEALERS is restricted to a face-to-face transaction.   Please ensure you are familiar with the changes brought about due to the VCR act, which may be viewed on the BASC website.   BASC and ACPO have produced a guide to the VCR act in PDF format, which avoids legalese and is very understandable. See HERE.   AirGunForum members must ensure their transactions conform with current legislation before posting.   An inter-dealer network to facilitate the continuation of mail order business is being established by Portland Jon. Details are HERE or direct to his website HERE.

      Editing your posts

The forum's EDIT function has been changed. After making your post, you will have 30 minutes to review and edit it. After that, only Admin will be able to make edits.   Should a post NEED to be edited afterwards, email to admin@airgunforum.net the change details, the URL of the thread it applies to and if appropriate, the reason for the change. Don't forget to identify yourself and do use your registered email address to make contact. All this is necessary, as admin must be able to identify who you are and that it is your post that you wish to edit.   Admin. will make the edit if it appears necessary. Note, if you want to change something that could easily be achieved by adding a further post to the thread, you will be expected to do it.   Forum staff generally view new posts added to threads since their last visit. If a "for sale" item has been sold or a wanted item has been obtained, just add a post to the thread and it will usually be noted and the thread title will be edited appropriately. This saves members' time wading through posts that are effectively "dead".   DaveL

      Upgrade   01/16/2018

Well it took me longer than expected and it was a bumpy road, but the forum is now upgraded to the latest version. The previous skin will no longer work with this new version, but I will check to see if there is a similar one for this version. Enjoy and if you encounter any problem just report it.

I think that proves what people have been saying regarding head sizes. It don’t make any difference it’s all about batches. A tin of 4.51’s were measured and some bigger than 4.53 were in the tin and not many 4.51’s
  3. Airgunforum, what future?

Been altering a few sections around - this will be ongoing until it sort of reads better - please bear with us whilst the changes take place. Matt
  4. Scopes ?

Agree with Jon over the range by eye - we should all be able to do it, at Springfield at the weekend, look at target, set side wheel, range, and very rarely had to move side wheel much, even on the 50+ yard targets
  5. Hot Pellet

Welcome my old mate, see you in April not the 1st. He has Number 15 JH Feinwerkbau P800X with my old stock. JH Anchutz 9015 in an old 9003 Precise stock topped off with a genuine Gemini and laminate woodwork. March 80's, who knows how many.
  6. Scopes ?

When youve put enough long courses out over the last 27 years you get to know. Light will play havoc with mark 1 eye ball in some places, also with scopes. Still stand vigorously by what i say anyone should be able to visually guestimate within +/-2 yards to 40 yards. Whats that mean, if that 40 yarder was 42 1/2 yards you would land 9mm low not even 1/4 a kill! Room for error, seen the red print on MFTA site recommended distances per lane of two targets 90 yards. Stick a presentable range out 50 yards leaves max range a gimmee at 40 yards x 32 targets. See what i mean about making it easier and easier side tracking away from what FT' was intended to be about. Next step H&S no outdoor activities, too dangerous.
  7. GC2 Action .

Well not good today , i think the Old GC2 has a slow leak . as it was empty when i went fill it today . my old anschutz has already conked out due to a leak . so tonight i stripped the shutz and had a look inside . changed what i hope is the offending O ring . cleaned every thing up that i could . will fill it tomorrow and see how it goes ??? HOLLY PS While i was at it a stripped every last thing that i could off it to try to lose some weight . in fact i think i lost well over a pound off it . probably fall apart now .
  8. Scopes ?

What Jon Say's about visually ranging is true IF you practice it , back when i had a 6.5 to 20 . yes i did practice as i walked the dog . guess it pace it . but having paid slightly more than suffolk ( yeah right ) i now depend on that scope to do that for me . FT nowadays does not leave room for error ??? HOLLY
  9. Scopes ?

Well he is a better man than me Matt . cos unless i am rock steady i cannot bracket ??? HOLLY
  10. Hot Pellet

Hello Juan . can we know some things about FT in spain ? where do you shoot . what do you shoot , scope . what is the power limit , pellets how many clubs and such . cheers HOLLY
  11. Airgunforum, what future?

    Nicely done . ??? HOLLY
  12. Airgunforum, what future?

He's still a member of staff. But well done on the upgrade, seems nice and zippy and clean as well.
  13. Scopes ?

Must admit that the scope I like using is only a 8-32x50, but it is clear and will 'repeat' each time, can't remember when I bought it, (and the price I paid wont be put up on public forum so the wife doesn't get a chance to see it suffice to say that while it wasn't over £200, it was more than I should have paid at the time (according to her)) only thing I'm missing with it, is a sunshade, but having looked at SteveC200s home-made one, think something along those lines will be trotted out. Would get another, but haven't seen one for sale since shortly after buying mine.

  15. Hot Pellet

Welcome to a new member and a good friend of mine Juan from Spain. Hopefully he will enjoy his stay! Matt
  16. Scopes ?

On another forum . there is a discussion about whether or not a Zos scope is a good enough scope for FT . i have had a zos and it worked no doubt about that . but not a keeper i did not think . my idea of a cheap entry level FT scope would be a BSA Platinum or a MK 1 Nikko . i would include the tasco custom shop but i think a lot of those by now are getting rather fragile . ??? 18. Airgunforum.net is looking for a new owner. Hopefully, one with fresh and new ideas. It started life on 12 December 2001 thanks to Alf Wheeler. I joined on 16th December. Alf and I worked together through some difficult times and I think the hassle from other quarters grew too much for Alf, so he gave the forum to me. We had lots of new ideas and it made this forum an interesting one for many, however, new ideas are soon copied by others, so it wasn’t long before staff on here ran out of ideas to enhance the board and keep it moving. My own shooting was curtailed by eye problems and John B’s work demanded more of him, so involvement and interest in airgunning flagged for us both and ownership of the forum was taken by Ray (Raygun) for a short while. Sadly, Ray developed lung cancer which was not diagnosed until quite late. He seemed to have responded well to treatment, however, an attack of pneumonia proved too much for his weakened system and he passed away. He is greatly missed. Since then, John B and I have maintained the forum as a going concern with John B hosting it on his personal webspace, but membership activity is very low and concentrated mainly in the FT, FT Hunter and SAR forum. I visit the forum at least once per day to do any necessary admin., but there are no new ideas or stimuli to get things working again. It’s decision time. Either the reins of the forum are passed to another person – with full support from both John B and me or it closes down. John and I will honour our promises, unlike some fly-by-nights, but that’s another story. In May of this year, I registered the domain name for two years but the software is out of date and although I bought lifetime support from the authors; that seems to have gone to the wall. So please feel free to post your comments on this thread and feel free to PM me if you have something positive to offer. Failing a change of ownership, I propose closing the forum on or around its 16th anniversary. Dave L
