The gun shoots well. I'm not sure I can trust the scope to perform properly for a comp. also the stock is only standard and needs beefing up a bit, with some pipe lagging or something.

Shot Stan's LGU at Springfield last week, very smooth and quick, I think I still prefer the Pro-Sport as no silly bear-trap...

I loved my Pro Sport. You're right about the anti bear trap, they do look -rubbish-. That's why if I was to get a TX I'd go for the mk1. Unfortunately there's no choice with the LGU.

Not the looks mate, it's the pouncing about pushing it in to close the cocking lever, but you're right they do spoil the looks. Wonder why they didn't do for the Pro-Sport, or is there an internal one.

As far as I'm aware the Pro Sport has anti bear trap but like you say it's internal. Best looking rifle bar none in my eyes and that includes pcp's as well. Also it precedes the venom Mach 2. Kenny turner developed the Pro Sport then didn't bring it to the masses so to speak, when he did he's stint at venom they used that design for the Mach 2. Then he went over to air arms designing the TX and then brought out the Pro Sport design, which was manufactured by AA. Clever bloke was Mr Turner.

Yep without a doubt the Pro-sport has to be one of the best, if not the best looking and performing out of the box springers...

As we've said before, too angle dependent, too heavy and hard on your joints to cock if you're an old codger....

Having had an SR. I don't think that the sledge system gives any advantage over a good tuned springer, easier to shoot but no more accurate. Like Colin says. Too angle dependent. A proper sorted TX will outshoot an SR all day long

Or a good LGU.... :sign_respect1:

One other thing I forgot about the SR is the slidey adjustment, when I used mine in the cold during a winter league shoot at Iceni I noticed that the sliding action was a lot stiffer which caused it to start kicking like a regular springer.

All in all, a good idea but there's too many variables to make it practical, I still like the idea of opposing pistons as you kill the two big birds of recoil and lock-time in one!

The problem is how to simplify the process into one single cocking action instead of going the Whiscombe route of a double cock. I'm sure there was an opposing piston target rifle in the 70's that used a single side-lever cocking action. I know it's 6fpe but maybe their solution in an underlever and beefed up to 12fpe might work?
