      VCR Bill

Since the introduction of the "latest" VCR bill on 1st October 2007, sales of AIRGUNS (including replicas) AND MAJOR COMPONENTS (barrels, cylinders etc.) by DEALERS is restricted to a face-to-face transaction.   Please ensure you are familiar with the changes brought about due to the VCR act, which may be viewed on the BASC website.   BASC and ACPO have produced a guide to the VCR act in PDF format, which avoids legalese and is very understandable. See HERE.   AirGunForum members must ensure their transactions conform with current legislation before posting.   An inter-dealer network to facilitate the continuation of mail order business is being established by Portland Jon. Details are HERE or direct to his website HERE.

      Editing your posts

The forum's EDIT function has been changed. After making your post, you will have 30 minutes to review and edit it. After that, only Admin will be able to make edits.   Should a post NEED to be edited afterwards, email to admin@airgunforum.net the change details, the URL of the thread it applies to and if appropriate, the reason for the change. Don't forget to identify yourself and do use your registered email address to make contact. All this is necessary, as admin must be able to identify who you are and that it is your post that you wish to edit.   Admin. will make the edit if it appears necessary. Note, if you want to change something that could easily be achieved by adding a further post to the thread, you will be expected to do it.   Forum staff generally view new posts added to threads since their last visit. If a "for sale" item has been sold or a wanted item has been obtained, just add a post to the thread and it will usually be noted and the thread title will be edited appropriately. This saves members' time wading through posts that are effectively "dead".   DaveL

  2. Scopes , Too Heavy ?

You don't need to touch the action, just the chassis... you can bend any gun, Steyr dual slot is quite easily distorted by tightening up the bolts unevenly... but the stuff up front does naff all. If you were brave you'd just lop it off.
  3. Cancelled. Snow started falling today making the approach and parking dubious for future use over the next 24 hours.
  4. Today
  5. Been thinking , maybe two drops for 50 pellets was too much . will give it try later with one drop . mind you next up lube wise is FP 10 . will just do one drop of that on 50 pellets . can i get the groups down to a quarter of an inch on a good day ? probably not . but gotta try ??? HOLLY PS best thing about FP 10 is it does not allow anything to stick in the barrel or on your fingers .

  7. Well looks like it goes on snow or not . . i just hope it does not rain . had enough cold and rain to last me a life time . ??? HOLLY
  8. OK to make up for yesterdays cock up , of forgetting the air cylinder . i went today down the club in the morning for three hours . the aim was to shoot in the LW Match barrel ( phil say's he has roughly half a dozen of em that he got from Pax ) any way wanted to try lube on the AAs . started off dry , shot a around 80 pellets . grouping was average . discounting flyiers caused by wind changing/speeding up slowing down . half inch 5 shot groups were the norm . wind was around 5 mph . checked rifle over the chrono and a bit high at 790 . ( warmer ) turned it down to my fave . 777 fps .( just like the sound of it ) changed direction so as the wind came from the right . quite a steady 5 mph . put 50 pellets in to an empty tin , along with two drops of napier pellet lube .. swirled em about for a couple of mins . and started shooting . all was well for around 15 shots and then they started to string up and down slightly . can't be having that . so stopped that and went back to dry pellets . strangely enough the consistency of the groups was better . to see if it would last . i fired 40 pellets off the bench at 52 yards onto a painted metal target .37 went into a half inch .the other three ( dodgy trigger technique ) took it to an inch . what i think was learned here is that the barrel was cleaned a bit by the 15 shots with lube . and is now shot in enough to shoot at it's best clean . barrel cleaned spotless tonight . cylinder back shortly . march goes on top and then off to kick ass . ( as long as it is not raining ) only one thing to say . Let Her Ripppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp ??? HOLLY

  16. Scopes , Too Heavy ?

Lots are fitting Ti tube. These are only lighter that steel. For the ones we've seen that are for Walthers they're 200g heavier than tubes of the roughly the same capacity (judging from the outside). I lost 300g by doing as per Holly says, cutting off the parts of the stock my hand never touches and the support which doesn't support anything.

  24. So You Want A Gary Cane Bull Pup ?

About 3 hours not too shabby. Probably take longer to get east to west in London on a week day. I’ll stick the car on cruise so no worries about cameras. Plus the cling film over the number plates lol

  26. Well that was an odd day out . took the GC to the club . field wet walked across . had a cuppa . got the rifle out to fill . no air cylinder . had forgot to borrow the wifes . ah well never mind . have a cuppa . left the rifle/lupe in the sun to see if the lupe would shift ? well i knew it would shift but by how much . after half an hour , i tried it and it five yards out at 55 . to be fair i set it up in the winter and it has been very good for the winter league . ok , monday lupe off . march on . while had nothing much to do i messed about in the shooting positions . gotta say the GC handles em all . even on the bench it was better . perfect fit . it is like you are part of it . ( yeah the duff part ) . if you have the dosh . do your self a favour , get one . sell something . ( the wife , your body , ) unlike that fella from belgium . your welcome to try mine ??? HOLLY
  27. Scopes , Too Heavy ?

The Old 2002 had the right idea darron . all you needed was the central block that everything hung off . the reg in the block . at the back the trigger mech and breech as a unit . on the front at the top the barrel . underneath the air tube . you have three inches deep of block to run the barrel through . so no problems with wobble or bending . . everything you want and nothing you don't ??? HOLLY PS the forward barrel support you can ditch .
  28. Scopes , Too Heavy ?

You make a good point about the air tube. As you know I had my alutec stock made from scratch by Jon it is everything I wanted and more, it’s just -covered in gore- heavy by the time you add woods and rowan etc.
  29. Scopes , Too Heavy ?

Darron, as far as I remember the 10-60x52 weighs about 80g more than the Leup comp. The 8-80 weighs a lot more, which is one of it's downsides in the comparison between the two. But as you say there's more to it than the scope. It's a component of the package, not the whole package. I pulled 300g off my Walther just by cutting off the bit that never gets used. Interesting the thread on stocks for the 9015... one thing to suggest is that manufacturers stop connecting stocks to varying pressure tubes and dispense with supporting something that doesn't need it... and if you feel you need 300g of aluminium to protect it then perhaps you shouldn't be handling it ;)
