Hello Chaps
I'm back! Well I'm back as a part timer. I used to be fairly active here a few years ago but unfortunately developed gout which seemed to be mainly in my neck making shooting 'a bit painful' so I packed the rifles away and haven't touched them for a couple of years. The gout has settled so I pulled out the pro sport, put it in a new stock and have been chipping paint off face plates for the past few weeks at the Buccaneers!
So I thought I should rejoin, I even got my old login. Woohoo!
Nice to see some old friends are still here, RobF seems to have taken my advice and has become half decent and glad to see that Holly hasn't popped his clogs!
See you on the CSFTA winter leage circuit, once I sort out this hitting the target lark!

Gents i reckon it is about time that the older and bolder rifles were brought out of the cupboard and got some use . time the collectors were de-bagged and made to shoot their hallowed pieces . the myth that the latest rifles are the greatest should be shown up for what it is . how can this come about ? simple . the BFTA can introduce a classic class into the GPs . possibly rifles before the year of 1990 . ideas gents . it will bring more bums onto more seats at shoots i reckon . whaddahyah think ??? Even though many reading this feel it has nothing to do with them i urge you to please talk to your club as insurance is a big issue and im sure you wouldnt want to find out the hard way that your club hasnt done anything about insurance.
I have sent e.mails out to clubs(please e.mail me if your club didnt get one) that have taken this insurance. This is to say that your cover stops 1st March and the BFTA will no longer hold this.
You must find another place for your insurance. The NSRA will have an offer for those that were under the BFTA umberella of £30.00 discount for their cover which starts January.
http://www.nsra.co.uk/index.php?option=com...240&Itemid=i will send a hard copy of the forms needed which should reach early next week. As before im on the end of an e.mail and will carry on being insurance and developement officer on behalf of BFTA.

I asked that the following letter be read out at the AGM in November -
Dear Roger & Committee Members,
As I am 70 at my next birthday and have not competitively shot for nearly 10 years now, I feel it is about time I retired from the Committee.
I have been continuously on the Committee since about 1986 and will be sorry to call it a day but, my ‘feel’ for the sport is now beginning to deteriorate due to not being involved on a day to day basis.
I will continue to assist Steve in running the forum for as long as you wish me to, but I will no longer be attending any of the Committee meetings.
I wish all of you the best and may the sport continue to grow.
All the best.
Alan
Roger asked me what retirement gift I would like, so I suggested a Perpetual Trophy to be presented annually to the highest scoring Junior at the European Open, junior to be defined as under the age of 16 on the first day of the shoot - I think this was accepted.
So this is to say farewell to my many friends made over the past 25 years.....but, although you may not seem me around at Newbury anymore, I will still be on the BFTA Forum for a while!

It has come to my attention that a proposal is to be or was to be put to the BFTA meeting to get shooters to kneel on a piece of matting rather than their bean bag . now while this idea has some merit insomuch as to stop any missuse of the bean bag when kneeling . what about the older shooters who NEED that bean bag to support aging limbs , or dissabilitys . i think there are more older shooters than young in comps today ??? Just recieved text from Rob as follows
Via text
James Woodhead is World Champion after shootoff with John Costello, Berty took third after shootoff.. The shootoff target was 13mm dia at 21 yards...Standing...Nerves got the better of the boys and they went to kneeling to decide it..But berty pushed the SA boys into fourth and fifth by dropping it standing ..Oh and the england team kept the title....
Rob...
Well done lads.

Hi all. I thought I'd pop a thread on concerning the above at the risk of everyone thinking that I'm a big plonka, just incase anyone else makes the same mistake but doesn't find out till they arrive at Weston Park.
I applied & got my tickets for the Euros's a few weeks ago but didn't think to check that everything wasn't working as it has in the past, I assumed that the camping pass would be with the tickets & left it at that.
It was brought to my attention yesterday at Castle that I would need to apply for my camping pass & considering how close we are to the event now I think it unlikely that I would get it on time, mea culpa, no one elses fault but mine I should have checked!
Just incase you do intend to camp at Weston Park though check you have the necessary passes to do so, don't assume as I did that it will be working as it did last year.

Could someone please provide us with some details relating to the BFTA showdown / masters (start time, format, costs, location etc). Can't seem to find anything further than a date, rules and history on the official web site or its forum?!
Many thanks

Is the Bfta chrono not effected by direct sunlight?
I ask as when i checked my gun before lunch, it did 806 -811 (mozzie). Chrono was in shade under tent.
Before shooting lane 1 for the Pm session at Gp8 Sunday, my first shot read 835, the 2nd and 3rd 819fps so just in, given 827 is the limit = 822 Bfta. This time though there was direct sunlight on the Chrono.
There was no sign of any point of impact change (ie higher) from a gun running over on the zero range i had just left or the course
However, I heard lots of reports of high readings yesterday and know of one young sft shooter who was over and his Gun disqualified.
So, would direct sunlight on the chrono have effected readings sunday?

Hi Steve,
Can you sort a way to show "AM" or "PM" by the side of a shooters GP score, perhaps a different colour? Just to give an indication as to if one session produced the higher scors or not on average?
