Would members please ensure they use the FAC forum for all technical information and detail that could take an airgun over the UK’s legal (unlicensed) limit.
The FAC forum is reserved for those who have a firearms certificate (in the UK) or who are permitted muzzle energies in excess of 12fpe (rifles) and 6fpe (pistols) in their own countries. Access requires the completion of a questionnaire available from admin@airgunforum.net (when requesting, please remember to include your username).

Chaps.
I took my recently aquired Relum tornado apart this morning for a look . I had gathered from comments on this forum that they, arn't the most prestigeous of airguns, how ever it only cost £20 and it's a start.
Looking at the leather washer ,I think it's had it,but I wondered how the washer is removed, does the red fibre ,lever off ? do I get a new one with the washer ?or is the whole end replaced?
Maybe there is an upgrade I can do,replacing leather with PTFE ?
ANY ideas ( apart from ones involving dustbins ) would be appreciated
Cheers

Hi guys, I've just fitted a new spring from T.R Robb Airguns, (great service, very quick.)
Before fitting, the pressure was down to between 6-8 lbs/ft, (old Ox spring), but I was getting one-hole groups at 25yds.
After fitting, the group has expanded to 3 inches, (rested).
Now, the old Webley Osprey sounds much more powerful, but accuracy is rubbish.
I can't check energy as my chrono is on the fritz (anyone know a repairer?)
Could it be too powerful, and stripping the pellet?
Any ideas and fixes would be appreciated,
Craftsman

I have an original Theoben Sirocco from around 1990 that was upgraded at one point to the HE ram when that became available. I haven't fired it for 4-5 years, and when I took it out of the safe, the gas ram had lost all pressure.
Pumping it up, I discovered that the fill valve is leaking. Being in the USA, I don't have the luxury of having many Theoben dealers around, so perhaps one of you can advise me. I'm told that the fill valve is simply a standard Schrader valve of the sort used on bicycle and auto tires- is that true? Or does Theoben use some special, high-pressure Schrader valve?

Hi, i bought the MOD 54 AIRKING a few weeks back off this forum and it`s a superb gun but NOISY

so i have removed the muzzle brake (slide over fit but needed release spray and a cloth round it then use of grips to remove) i now have a 65mm bit of smooth barrel then there is a shroud that goes back into the gun, the diam of the barrel is 15mm does anyone know of a push fit type moderator that will fit (does not need to go back the full 65mm as i can fit an "o" ring to the end of the shroud to finish it) or is it possible to get a metal working/engineering shop to put a 1/2 inch thread on the end of the barrel (removing a small amount of metal/swarf in doing so) then i imagine any of the 1/2 " standard unf thread moderators will fit, (thinking of using a Prestige DeciBeater), any suggestions very welcome as it`s an awsome gun but 1 shot and every bunny/tree rat in Guildford disappears for the day

i can still use my HW100`S but i just love this gun , HELP

I've had this gun for about 15 years now and after having a break from shooting ( girls, cars, drink e.t.c

) i have got back into it but after going on a few expeditions i am getting the feeling that the poor old superstar needs a bit more that a dusting over and some oil on the moving parts. I have shot 1 crow & 5 rabbits and only one rabbit was dead for sure because i shot it again before it ran into a ditch

, this of course isn't fair on the animals and iam not getting any meat either so i think the old girl might be running quite a bit below power as the shots are on target (heart shots).
I expect the spring is worn out but iam not sure if it would be better to replace it with a gas ram or a new spring and i love to repair things so any advice on how to replace/repair the guts would be really great.
Thanks in advance!!!

I have a TX200SR in immaculate condition.
It has a small problem with consistency..
It shoots AA 8.4gr at 770-775 fps and every 4-6 shots one or 2 shots are slow [in the 740 to 735fps region]
The recoil also feels different for the slow shots..
I have changed the main spring and guide to a custom Maccari kit, piston seal and breech seals.
I have relubed everything correctly but it still does the same.
I have tried JSB Express pellets and the same thing happens...a slow shot every now and then..
Accuracy is very good but the consistency worries me...any ideas?

I swapped the barrel from a 24" to a 16" (swap done on this forum), and since then, the rifle is unusable, pellets hitting all over the place! The barrel is FAC ported.
I have tried the following:
Several different pellets (Bisley Mags, AA Field, Accupel)
Changed silencers
Changed scopes
Cleaned barrel
Checked for air leaking at the breech
Checked the crown with a cotton bud for burrs
Turned the power both up and down (18-30ft/lb)
All the above came to nothing. I'm am at my wits end. The rifle was a 50yd tackdriver with the 24" barrel, but I needed something shorter....What a mistake!

Any suggestions as to what to try next?
Don

Hi, my pistol is currently running at about 300fps (.177) using light weight pellets. Does anyone know of a power increas to take it to the legal limit please. Manufacturer claims 400 fps but i think this must be a typo on their part! Thanks,

Hi guys, anyone out there know where I can get a Chronotech cronograph checked out or repaired.
When I set it up,it won't zero and the digi display flickers all the time and I'm not sure I am actually getting a reading from it.
And yes, I have replaced the battery and used sky-screens etc.
Help!!! Getting desperate!!

Hello,I've got a leak (again) on my Solo. It's the Filler Valve 'O' Ring.It is about 5 years old now and feels quite hard,so I'm going to replace it.
My question is-It looks conical,so do I need to order the correct Manufacturers part, which means I'll have to wait a week for it and pay a stupid amount for a tiny 'O' Ring.
Or can I just use a standard 'O' Ring which I can get from work ?
Thanks.

Tuned up my current project last night and whilst stripping it I noticed a small screw in the front of the trigger mech.
Now I always thought that the trigger on the Mk5 wasnt adjustable, but then again there is this screw. To save me the laborious task of removing the stock and do a trial and error does anyone on here know?
The trigger is heavy but I thought that was to do with the yet to be replaced piston housing and new XS spring. If this did give a lighter trigger it would go a long way to making my Meteor nicer to fire.
Cheers in advance
Chris

Can any of my learned collegues out there advise me on a reliable person that could customise my HW100 Kt stock so that it fits me?
I live in Gillingham Kent and would like an adjustable butt pad, cheek piece etc.
I'm not skilled or brave enough to tackle this on my own (I have problems knocking a nail in straight!) and my wife would kill me if I ruined my present, so any advice on the right person to contact would be gratefully received!
Regards
The Admiral

Hello - just wondering if anyone can help me. I have two BSA Lightning XL's, one a standeard stock and one with a Tactical stock. I bought the sandard one new and the Tactical secondhand. They are both good airguns as far as I can tell and are both quite accurate. My problem is this - the Tactical makes far more spring noise as it is being fired than the standard and the muzzle velocity is also lower.
1. How easy is a respring job (I'm pretty practical)?
2. Which brand of spring is suitable for this type of gun (a normal BSA or an aftermarket such as an Ox or V- Mach)?
3. Is it actually a spring problem or could it be one of the spring mounting / guide components?
Thanks in advance,
JR

I've owned my Meteor since the 70's and it's done sterling service, it's even become like an old friend! For the last few years my father has been using it occasionally for 'offing' the odd pigeon or squirrel that was wreaking havoc in the garden and my kids sometimes like to target shoot with it. It occurred to me that I hadn't even oiled it for ages so I thought it about time it got some TLC...it still fires well but with nothing else to compare it to I wasn't sure about it's performance although it still feels 'tight' to cock and close (no play on the barrel) and the trigger is positive with a smooth action but one side of the barrel and stock is scratched from my father using the corner of the house as a prop (ouch!)for his vermin control sniping.
So....I decided that I would like to improve the finish to bring it back to it's former glory which of course meant some disassembly and although I know very little about the technicalities of air rifles, I am an engineer so undaunted I decided to do a complete strip-down and clean.
After reading much about the rifle on this forum (some excellent advice and useful links), and after speaking to a couple of people 'in the know' I decided that I would simply replace any worn parts with the originals rather than uprating the gun and risking breaking something with the extra power it was not designed for.
It really is very simple to take apart and to an engineer the construction seems fairly basic which is nice to see, but when I opened everything up I was surprised to see just how bad it was inside. I remember replacing the spring way back in the 70's, but the 'guts' were certainly showing their age!
The first thing that was apparent was the buffer washer behind the piston which literally fell apart when I removed the piston:-

Rifle had been sitting about for a LONG time apparently!! Which resulted in the quickfill valve sticking which has now been resolved.
Then the guy comes to me for an air refill and it took the charge no problem.....but......when cocked and trigger is pulled=it sounds 'empty' and when recocked, a 'PHUT' of air is relesed through what seems to be from the breech area??
He seems to think he can repair/remedy it himself and I told him that personally, I would seek gunsmiths advice as precharge is something mechanically I don't like to mess/guess with!!!!!

!!!!!
Any suggestions as to misfire issue? (before he KILLS himself??)

Hi All.
I am considering fitting swivels to my Webley and not sure to which swivel types to fit and the best position to fit them onto the stock or getting a barrel fitting and best place to fit the swivel screw fitting. It is just that i haven't fitted a set of swivels to any rifle. And i dont want holes all over as to not feeling right or hanging right. Any help would give me some points to go at..thanks.
