I asked that the following letter be read out at the AGM in November -
Dear Roger & Committee Members,
As I am 70 at my next birthday and have not competitively shot for nearly 10 years now, I feel it is about time I retired from the Committee.
I have been continuously on the Committee since about 1986 and will be sorry to call it a day but, my ‘feel’ for the sport is now beginning to deteriorate due to not being involved on a day to day basis.
I will continue to assist Steve in running the forum for as long as you wish me to, but I will no longer be attending any of the Committee meetings.
I wish all of you the best and may the sport continue to grow.
All the best.
Alan
Roger asked me what retirement gift I would like, so I suggested a Perpetual Trophy to be presented annually to the highest scoring Junior at the European Open, junior to be defined as under the age of 16 on the first day of the shoot - I think this was accepted.
So this is to say farewell to my many friends made over the past 25 years.....but, although you may not seem me around at Newbury anymore, I will still be on the BFTA Forum for a while!
Farewell!

All the best for the future Alan, don't forget, if you've got a bit of holiday free sometime come on down to Weymouth.
Very happy retirement, until the finger starts twitching again.
