Takes me back a bit.
I used to manage a company that made, amongst other things, a thermal ceramic plate for inclusion in the casting of armour plate.
Apparently there was some kind of "round" that actually burnt it's way through the armour. The inclusion of the thermal ceramic plate stopped it burning through.
When cast the metal permeated the ceramic fibre which meant the temperature resistance was increased.
The same system was used in engine pistons to enable them to run hotter and at higher pressures.

It's not really one million feet per second is it? 189 miles a second? what the heck fires it.

Ha ha, there is always one.
Just because this is a airgun forum and you see fps, does not mean the fps is abbreviated for Feet Per Second.
FPS in this case is an abbreviation of Frames Per Second.
So that is 1 Million Frames Per Second, the speed at which the bullets were filmed at.

thanks for the explanation J-B it did sound a bit fast, and cameras a bit faster than my Box Brownie.
