Could anyone tell me if the HW 35 has the same dimensions as the HW80 only shorter? I mean the spring and piston washer etc.?

Both have the same 30mm bore, all 80's have synthetic piston seals, pre '83 35's use leather otherwise seals are interchangeable. The 80 has a longer piston stroke and can take a longer and stiffer spring the 80 also has a much heavier piston to take advantage of that extra swept volume and spring energy, you could fit just about any 35 spring into an 80 but not the other way round.
